Effects of Complex Training on Sprint, Jump, and Change of Direction Ability of Soccer Players: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

The aim of this meta-analysis was to evaluate the effects complex training (CT) on sprint, jump, and change direction (COD) ability among soccer players. After an electronic search, 10 peer-reviewed articles were considered in meta-analysis. athletes included amateur professional level male players (age range, 14–23 years). These studies incorporated CT who compared a control group. Significant moderate large improvements observed group [sprint: standard mean difference (SMD) = 0.92–1.91; jump: SMD 0.96–1.58; COD: 0.97–1.49] when groups. Subgroup analysis also conducted based age, duration, competitive level. beneficial greater <18 vs. ?18 years (linear sprinting; 2.01 ?0.13), after ?8 <8 weeks (jumping COD; 1.55–2.01 0.31–0.64, respectively) sprinting with 1.53–1.58 0.08–0.63, respectively). In conclusion, regular programs may be supplemented improve COD performance. A longer duration (?8 weeks) seems optimal improving physical abilities Professional benefit more from program.
